Cleveland Catholic Deaf Center Celebrates 80 Years

The Cleveland Catholic Deaf Center recently celebrated its 80th Anniversary with a memorable day of faith, fellowship, and thanksgiving. Friends, families, and supporters gathered to honor this remarkable milestone of eight decades serving the Catholic Deaf Community.

The celebration began with a beautiful anniversary Mass at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral. In his inspiring homily, Fr. Mike Depcik gave thanks to God for the many blessings bestowed upon the Cleveland Catholic Deaf Community throughout the past 80 years. He praised the community for its welcoming spirit, strong sense of unity, and faithful commitment of Jesus’s commandment  to "love one another." Fr. Mike shared that Cleveland has always been one of his favorite Catholic Deaf communities because everyone is welcomed, respected, and treated like family.

Following Mass, guests enjoyed a guided tour of the Cathedral, where they admired its beautiful architecture and learned about its rich history and significance to the Diocese. The celebration then continued with a festive anniversary dinner at Hofbräuhaus. The evening featured delicious food, warm conversations, and joyful fellowship as longtime friends reunited, new friendships were formed, and cherished memories were shared.

The 80th Anniversary celebration was a tremendous success and a fitting tribute to the Center's enduring mission and vibrant community. As we give thanks for the blessings of the past eight decades, we look forward with hope and gratitude to continuing the mission of serving the Cleveland Catholic Deaf Community for many years to come.
